International cooperation department

The International cooperation department is a structural subdivision of Sumy NAU, the main functions of which are to intensify the international activities of the university; organize training and internships abroad for students, graduate students, as well as for research and teaching staff of the university; ensure the implementation of joint educational and research projects together with international organizations and universities of Ukraine and other countries.

The main directions of its activities are:

• promotion of academic mobility of SNAU students and provision with opportunities to improve their professional skills in the chosen field abroad;
• extension of contacts with international educational organizations and HEIs in order to form an international network of partner institutions;
• coordination of international research and educational projects of the university;
• organization and technical support of international conferences, seminars, and symposiums;
• attraction of foreign experts to the university.

Within the framework of international policy of SNAU, the International cooperation department creates conditions for internships abroad and study both for teachers and students, and attracts foreign professors to deliver courses at SNAU. We organize professional excursions for specialists in the agricultural sector of Sumy Oblast, during which they can master the latest technologies and methods of modern agricultural management of developed countries. We assist our employees in participation at international conferences and working meetings, the establishment of cooperation links with research institutions around the world.

It has been creating conditions and coordinating internships for teachers and students abroad for over 20 years, as well as organizes training for students in partner universities, and attracts foreign professors to teach at the university. The International cooperation department arranges professional excursions for specialists of Sumy agro-industrial complex, during which they can study the latest technologies and methods of modern management in agriculture of developed countries. Also, this department ensures the implementation of numerous international grant projects at the university.

The major focus is also addressed to the special language training of students, PhDs and teachers. In this regard, the university provides an opportunity to improve English, German, French and Polish language proficiency. For this purpose, the Department of foreign languages of SNAU created the linguistic center, where both teachers of the Department and native speakers from different countries teach relevant courses, for example, a lecturer of the German academic exchange service DAAD Carsten Grunwaldt and Peace Corps Ukraine volunteer Serena Berkowitz.

In recent years, the network of international partners of the university has significantly expanded and the number of scientific and educational international projects has notably increased.
International delegations are often welcomed at Sumy NAU. Every year, representatives and HR managers of various farms and partner organizations visit our university in order to select students for joint projects, and to conduct joint seminars, conferences, deliver lectures and practical courses. Internships at the best farms of foreign countries allow students to gain practical experience in agriculture, to carry out diploma projects in the form of business plans and, in general, to form their own modern worldview. Since the establishment of the International cooperation department, more than 6000 students have undergone practical training abroad and about 200 students have studied and obtained diplomas at leading European universities.
